The Georgian Braai!
This has to be my favourite folly. The brief amongst other things called for ‘English Georgian’ styling and had to incorporate a built in braai. My history is not that hot, but I do know that the life style of the upper class Brits in the 18th century did not include having a braai. However, not to be beaten, I checked my ‘Banister Fletcher’ and realised that this was the time that British Empire was growing, and eastern design and style was in vogue. Minarets became added adornments to some of the houses. Hence, the built-in braai disguised in this manner.
