Rozendal Face Lift

  • This house was altered twice, first to add an upper level to accommodate a family room and master bedroom, and secondly to upgrade the master bathroom and add a lift. I have to say it is not easy to retro fit a lift in a double storey, split level house.
  • The original entrance was via a steep set of narrow steps from the garage door through the opening in the wall above the planters. By widening and splitting the flights, increasing the treads and decreasing the risers, the approach to the front door is more gentle and welcoming.
  • The original first floor bathroom had a timber floor which also doubled as the ceiling below. The new floor was raised 150mm to accommodate the plumbing, and the illusion of boarding running into the shower was achieved leaving gaps between the boards within the glass enclosure and placing the shower tray under.
